You Can Make Money
With Branded Books

There is money to be made with branded books.  

What are branded books? you might ask.

A branded book is one that has been published so that new owners 
can slap their identity on the book and either sell it, or give it away, 
as their own property.

Somewhere inside the book, and preferably up near the front, there will be a spot where you see a message similar to this:  "This book is a free gift from... TALE WINS."  Then there will be a link to that owner's web site, or to the site where a purchase can be made.

In fact, there can be any number of links (or information) sprinkled throughout the book where you (the new owner) will personally benefit.  These links can go to your (the new owner's) site, or to a commission page where your BRAND is marked for some purchase or remuneration.  

The technology that does the branding is only slightly more sophisticated than the FIND AND REPLACE tool in your word processor.  

Here's what one looks like...

When you brand a book -- A TAG, or piece of code, inside the original book will be replaced with your identity just by typing in the right information inside the branding tool.  

For Example:  IN THE FIRST BOX: {--llama--}
In this box you will want to enter the Title of your own site . Example, The Tale Wins Literary Agency.

IN THE SECOND BOX: {--taglito--}
In this box you will want to enter your Clickbank Nickname. For example, Mine is Talewins.

IN THE THIRD BOX: {--taggundo--}  In this last box you will want to enter the web address (the URL) of your home page, or your sales page. Mine, for example, is talewins.com -- In most instance you "DO NOT" include http://www, -- only the actual address itself. The program installs the rest of the url automatically for you ...

The TAG NAMES you see above are not normal.  In fact, publishers get VERY creative with their tag names, mostly so unworthy souls won't know what goes where to get what.  You can expect to see tags with names ranging anywhere from "atchoogoombalya" to "RichardZimbalico."  Truth to tell, most of them are guessable anyway but publishers and authors are traditionally a group of shrewd paranoids.

Okay, you have now entered your private branding information.  Next you hit BRAND and your information is used to replace the tag or code EVERYWHERE in the book that it applies.  See how easy that was?  Your book now has your information in it, and all the orders you generate put money in your pocket.  

Some branded books are designed to be sold to you with a deal like, "You Keep ALL the money!"   Why would an author or publisher do this?  There could be two reasons, #1, the author has OTHER offers in there you do not get paid a share on, or at least it is designed so you do not get all the money on.  #2, the author could be asking you to BUY the rights to brand the book.

The final step is to SAVE the NEW version of the book.  It is suggested that you save it with a different name, just in case you have done it wrong somewhere and need to do it over again.

"Okay, I have obtained the branding rights to the original book.  I have put my information into the book, and I have saved it.  How do I make money.  

If the book is designed to be given away for free, you simply begin offering it to your friends, family, neighbors, and customers.  When they take the desired action, you get paid.  

Do I hear you shouting "Glory, Glory, Hallelujah!"?  

I'm sorry.  It is no longer that easy.

The fact of the matter is, there is COMPETITION out there in the field of giving away free ebooks.  Thousands upon thousands of titles are available with MORE coming on every day.  It is very likely that you will have to SELL people on the idea of downloading your free book.

Why do people have to be sold if the book is free?  Because they have been inundated with worthless downloads.  So many pretendabee authors will throw anything together and call it a book.  I have downloaded some FREE books that were less than 200 words of text, and had no pictures either.  Two pages like this is a "BooK?" Well, it may be free, but it isn't worth the time or bandwidth required to get it.  You could download all day long and not get ten cents worth of material worth reading.  The moral of that story is: if you aren't very selective in which books you give away you will end up with a tarnished reputation and dwindling profits.  That's why I am initiating a personal rating system on Browzer.

BrowzerBooks maintains a directory of GREAT books that can be rebranded.  Whether you make your own, or you are the first one to offer it there, you can be listed -- if the book is great.  When you let Browzer do your picking then at the very least you'll have far fewer books to go through before finding some that really fit your desires.

When you launch your own Book Review service, what desires should your choices reflect?  Something that complements what you are either selling, or getting traffic to your site to find with.  If your primary traffic is looking for business opportunities, by all means, grab up some opportunity type books and rebrand them for your traffic.  If your traffic is health related you will want to wait until you find health type books.    If you are a shoe store you might hold out for a book titled:  HOW TO STRETCH YOUR SHOES TO FIT YOUR BUDGET.  Yeah, right.  But you do get my point, I hope.  

The only real criteria to consider is trial and error.  

Put your book up "for sale" and see if people rush to "buy" it.  If they do, you've got a winner.  If they skip a title, your traffic does not want that kind of book.

There are dozens of branders available for the exe books.  

"Uh, what is an exe book?"  

Uh -- That is a book created from web type pages.  
These can be vibrant, beautiful, full of action, and interactive.  
The only real drawback to an exe book is that it leaves out 
a chunk of the reading population, those who don't have Windows -- 
MAC users, for example.  

Good branders for PDF books are fewer and farther between.  At this date I know of only one in fact that does a terrific job.  

"Uh, what is a PDF book?

Uh -- Uh -- Well -- Hmm.  

A PDF book is one that can be read with a free Adobe Acrobat Reader® This is a PORTABLE file which can be used in hundreds of machinations, and even by MAC users.  PDF books do not have quite the versatility of an exe book, but with the latest developments by Adobe they are getting much closer now.  Within one year, three months and eleven days they should be better than exe books.  Mark my word. and Mark your calendar too.

"Uh, Can't the webmaster or webmistress just rebrand the book and put THEIR information inside and take all my commissions away?"

DUH!  Hmm.  That would not be so good, would it?  

Yes.  Some of your books can be immediately rebranded by their new owners.  They are designed to be that way so that the book goes just as far and wide as possible.  One way to make these books keep on making money for you is when there are MULTIPLE affiliate offers inside the book.  I have seen one book that had 64 different dealerships in it.  That is 64 different programs you have to buy into if you are going to make money from all of them.  But gee, who's going to all that trouble?

NOBODY!  Consequently, people will quit after signing up for three or four and pass the book on without changing YOUR affiliate links in the remaining fields.  That makes 61 links you can still count on making money for you.

On top of that... many of these dealerships offer two and even three tier marketing deals.  Thus, you make a commission on THEIR sales too.  PLUS -- ding, ding goes the cash register -- Some of those deals pay you again and again for the life of the purchase.  I made three $20 sales five years ago that are still paying me $10 each and every month, just like clockwork.  Smack your lips all the way to the bank on that kind of package!  Why, if I had just kept on moving that product I would probably have gotten so rich that I would not be writing how to get rich books and articles any more today.

Okay, how just much money can you make by branding books produced by others?

Unfortunately, that DEpeNds.  It depends on just how valuable the books are that you choose, which ones your traffic wants, what your traffic does with the book after they get it, and how well the economy is doing and -- do you get the message?  Let me give you a success story though.

97% of the traffic going to American Insurance Depot was coming from people using search engines.  After 11 months of distribution 91% of the traffic reaching American Insurance Depot comes from the FREE BOOKS it gives away.  This is not typical, but it does show what aggressive marketing of free books can do for you.

Insurance is just about the most competitive field on earth.  There is a shop in every town in America and hundreds of companies plying their wares on the internet.  Where many of the top companies of this nature are bragging on how few millions of dollars they are losing in each quarter, American Insurance Depot is quietly making a profit.  The message is clear:  Giving Away FREE BOOKS can make money for you.
