Start Building Your Traffic

There are a thousand tips to building traffic, and most of them work.  What I want to do here is simply guide you to the basics of building traffic so that you don't get discouraged by having too little traffic. So, let's start out with our eye on the ball. 

Let's start with advertising on search engines so we can back up from there to where we should be starting. 

Before you can get a link to your site posted on search engines you need something unique on your web site which people are going to search engines to look for.  I suggest you start with two words, "FREE" and "Books".  I have one book which gives away 42 other books.  It is beautifully laid out, has a nice cover, and makes "sales" regularly for me.

By giving it away as a free gift from pages on my site I tell my surfers how much I appreciate them.  Many of the surfers who get the book will gladly give more copies away for me.  They give it away as a thank you for coming to their web sites, as I do for people coming to my web site.  They add it to the sales package as a bonus to the sales they make.  Distribution keeps spreading.  The more it spreads, the happier I get.

Now, if you've been in web marketing for very long you've heard of a process called "BRANDING an ebook".  What does that do?  Branding will put your name (or sales code) into a book so that at least some of the sales generated from the book come to you.  A little branding tool usually comes packaged with the book and maybe you squirm around and get it right, or maybe you squirm around and give up on it.
