Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen is now available as a page-turning PC book.  This is EASILY our favorite download.  I am really pleased with the way it has turned out.  Remember, this is a very large book.  If you have a slow connection it might be best to wait until just before going to bed to begin downloading this mammoth.

Sense and Sensibility in its ILLUSTRATED glory is now available in pdf format, or (non illustrated) as a page turning book.

Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte which was one of the original gothics, and I believe it is still one of the best gothic novels ever written.

Mansfield Park was the most unpopular novel written by the classic producer, Jane Austen.  Many people believe that if it had been produced under a pseudonym that it would not have been so ill treated, but would have been acclaimed as a beloved classic long ere this.  You are invited to read this book and judge it for yourself.  It has been newly arranged and typeset by Lin Stone, then published as an electronic book by Browzer Books.

Gold Fever is the insane compulsion to set aside the little diamonds we already have -- and tear off across parts dangerous and unknown to reach the latest gold strike.  "The Cure for Gold Fever" is Lin Stone's funniest work so far.  It is the obviously true life story of how he cured himself forever of gold fever.

The Strange Case of the Lost Elvis Diaries    "So . . . the Elvis Diaries. I had heard the rumors of their existence. The story had it that Elvis had kept a journal since he was in elementary school. As far as I knew, though, they were just that--rumors. Maybe this was a hoax like those Hitler diaries some crackpot tried to palm off on that German magazine some years back.  But hoax or not, I have to admit I was intrigued. The truth is, I needed a good story and needed it real bad. Recently, I'd been suffering from what might be called a receding by-line. My last three story ideas hadn't panned out and the last one that actually got published--"The Eight Faces of Earl"--was a major disappointment. It was the story of Earl Buskin, a man who had eight distinct personalities, all of them, unfortunately, incredibly boring.  So if the Elvis diaries really did exist and I could get my hands on 'em, I might just have the story of the century."

Visions, a free ebook and definitely good, written by a professional.  It is PG-13

Sienna Moon:  Maggie studied the newcomer through the blind of ripened summer wheat.  The sun was glinting amid a backdrop of dark blue sky, emphasizing the stranger vividly through the distance.

She assumed he was at the ranch to barter for the wheat as the other ranchers from the plains had done for the past months.  Rain had fallen generously here in the valley, but most of the other areas in the state had suffered substantially by the drought.

Maggie shifted her feet uneasily and stomped off a line of fire ants that had traveled up to the rim of her brown dingo boots.  After silently cursing the determined little creatures, her attention soon fell to the stranger again.
Spanish books online.

Quartermaster:  A band of silver gulls gliding towards the warming rays of the western horizon suddenly captivated Pepper’s attention and she paused on the jutted pier to study them at length. The piercing cries slowly vanished with their flight as a moaning blast from a ship heading towards the harbor echoed endlessly, filling in the gap, the sound seeming to take an eternity to finally fade away.

Journey of the Heart:  Quietly, she put away the futon and placed her mirror on the window's ledge. Izumi tiptoed to the kitchen, and knelt next to a small stove with one burner. It stood solemnly beside a tiny refrigerator that sat on the tatami floor. Unstacking some containers in the corner, she pulled out a bag of rice. Izumi measured portions of the white grain into a pan, carefully rinsing it in the kitchen sink. She quietly set the pan on the burner, and turned on the fire. She then went to the closet, and slid open the thin wooden door. Behind the clothes, Izumi pulled out a small table, about a foot tall. Placing it in the middle of the room, she arranged the bowls and tea things on it.

Ingeld's Daughter

Historical, fantasy, both or neither? Ingeld's Daughter is set in an invented world. It illustrates a society on the cusp of change from medieval feudalism to a more socially mobile, more commerce-based Renaissance-style structure. The three societies in the book, the social and economic influences and the political conflicts are all based on British history from various times and places. The geography is based on British landscapes. The strands of the story I wanted to tell did not all occur together at a single time and place in British history, so rather than twist history to fit the story, I set the story in an invented world.

Some would categorise the book as fantasy because of the invented setting. However, magic and monsters exist only in the minds of some of the characters. They may be no less powerful for that - irrational beliefs have shaped many a cataclysmic change in history - but you'll find no dragons or wizards casting spells, and no titanic struggle between the forces of absolute good and absolute evil.

Editor's note:  I have read the first chapter so far and the writing is excellent with great characterization and wonderful setting.  This is an author sure to win thousands of followers.  Click HERE to begin reading.

Jane Austen romance novels

Tess Hunter is dissatisfied with her career in spite of her apparent success as a cookbook author, illustrator and magazine publisher. She wonders if she's made a wrong turn somewhere, and plans a surprise visit to her hometown in the Sierra Nevada, and her estranged family, to somehow break through their wall of silence and think through her career path. Tess has just finalized her plans when she learns of her family's sudden deaths in an accident. Overcome with grief for her parents and younger brother, Tess faces the unanswered question of why they kept her at a distance for the past eleven years.

On her arrival at her parents' house, Tess meets Joe Latimer, the neighbor she had a crush on as a girl. Joe has been close to Tess's family in recent years, and he thinks Tess initiated and maintained the rift between herself and her parents. Tess and Joe are drawn together, undeniably attracted to one another, even as they strive to sort out their resentment, jealousy and mistrust of each other's motives.  Click HERE to read the terrific novel, Snow Angels  The link to the full novel is small, and right at the top.

Earthbound, Stories from a Ghost Town

Child of Wonder-- by Italian-American author and educator Raphael Ferraro, is a poignant narrative about a young boy whose unfortunate circumstances of birth and odd appearance mark him as an object of ridicule and scorn. The action of this inspiring story focuses on the extraordinary adventures and the mystical experiences of this sensitive young Italian whose prayers and faith both sustain him and transform him on his unique spiritual journey through Southern Italy. Blended into the narrative are the fascinating folkways and beliefs of the region.

Luminarium   Medieval, Renaissance and 17th century English literature

Queen of Heaven is a fascinating biography of Mary Magdalene based on ancient texts from Egypt, Babylon, Sumer, Israel, Canaan and Greek, Hittite, Arabic, and Indian myths.Mary Magdalene is probably one of the most used, abused and mis-used of all the characters in the New Testament. She is reviled as a harlot and praised as a saint, but Mary was far more than such overt simplification could ever describe. More than the Shakti of the Son of the Living God, first and foremost, she was an influential woman of her times, real and passionate. For the first time her story is revealed, her life chronicled. Following Miriam from birth to death, the novel vividly depicts the religious milieu from which Christianity developed, and reveals the many sources of Christian thought and iconography. The first Volume of Queen of Heaven, chronicles Miriam's childhood in Canaan. The Second Volume describes her travels to Egypt and adventures on the Arabian Sea, and the Third, available soon, tells of her encounters with Yeshuah the Nazarene.
